It is exactly what it says: the process of sealing pressurised leaks while under continuous pressure, to avoid costly shutdowns or unscheduled maintenance.
Just about any kind of leak can be sealed using this process, with pressure ratings up to 7500 psi and temperatures ranging from cryogenic to 1800 degrees Fahrenheit. Under pressure leak sealing also works well for sealing vacuum leaks.
